All-on-4 Dental Implants

Are you missing your teeth on one or both arches, but have been told you don't qualify for dental implants? Using the All-on-4® method, Drs. Mohamed Saccoh and Kheri-Ann Robinson can help restore your smile, often without preparatory bone grafting.

Request an All-on-4 consultation at our practice serving Baltimore, MD, to restore your oral function and appearance.

What Are All-on-4 Dental Implants?

All-on-4 is a dental implant technique that supports a denture using just four strategically placed implants. This is great for patients with mild to moderate bone loss who would otherwise require preparatory bone grafting to support implants. By placing two of the implants at an angle, your dentist can maximize the existing bone material so the implants can properly fuse to the jawbone.

Traditional implant placement requires six to eight implants, but the All-on-4 method only requires four to restore a full arch. Dentures are then secured to the implant posts to restore your smile.

Candidates for All-on-4

You may be a good candidate for All-on-4 treatment if you:

Are Missing Most or All of Your Teeth

The All-on-4 method is for patients missing all of their teeth along one or both dental arches. If you have several healthy remaining teeth, an implant-supported dental bridge or partial denture may be a better option.

Are in Good Oral Health

You must be free of tooth decay and gum disease before implant placement. This ensures a healthy foundation for your dental implants.

Have Sufficient Jawbone Material

While this treatment allows many patients with bone loss to skip preparatory bone grafting, you must still have enough bone material left to support the implants.

Do Not Use Tobacco

Tobacco use has been linked to an increased risk of oral health complications, including implant failure. It is best to stop all tobacco products before your implant placement procedure.

Missing teeth can make simple tasks like eating and speaking difficult. Tooth loss can also lead to further oral health complications, like a shrinking jawbone. Dental implants can help you eat the foods you love and speak without worrying about whether your dentures will slip. With All-on-4 implants, even patients with mild-to-moderate jawbone deterioration can enjoy the benefits of a restored smile.

Making Functional Smiles  More Affordable

We do not want financial barriers to prevent our Joppa and Baltimore patients from experiencing healthy and functional smiles. Here is how we can help:

Insurance

While most insurance plans do not cover dental implants costs, they may cover other aspects of your dental treatment, such as your dentures. We will verify coverage before your treatment begins so you can accurately plan and budget.

Financing

For those without dental insurance and to cover costs not covered by insurance, we offer payment plans and CareCredit® financing. This allows you to finance the cost of your treatment into flexible and affordable monthly payments.

All-on-4 Timeline

It is important to remember that your timeline may vary. However, here is an example of a typical All-on-4 treatment for our Baltimore-area patients.

Consultation

During your initial consultation at our Joppa, MD, dental office, Dr. Saccoh will examine your mouth and discuss your oral health history and goals to determine if All-on-4 dental implants are right for you. If you need preparatory treatment such as bone grafting or tooth extraction, this must be done first.

Impressions

Your dentist will take impressions of your mouth. This allows our lab to craft a custom, natural-looking denture.

Anesthetic

Before your implant placement surgery begins, your dentist will numb the area with a local anesthetic. We also offer sedation dentistry options for those who need an extra level of comfort care for their procedure.

Implant Placement

Your dentist will make small incisions in the gums. The implant posts will be placed in the jawbone, and abutment connector pieces attached. A temporary denture will typically be placed, so you're not without a smile.

Healing Period

You will be given time to heal. Your implants will fuse to the jawbone over the next three to six months. This process is called osseointegration.

Denture Placement

Once your implants have healed, Dr. Saccoh will secure your custom-crafted dentures to the implants. All that is left to do is enjoy your new smile!

Take a Closer Look at All-on-4 Dental Implants

Four implants are used to restore a full arch. Two implants are placed at an angle to maximize your existing bone material.

Invest in Your Oral Health

Because the jawbone relies on the stimulation tooth roots provide, even a single missing tooth can cause the bone to begin deteriorating. This can lead to issues such as sunken facial features, further tooth loss, and more. While dental implants are typically more expensive than traditional dentures, they prevent bone atrophy and can be a valuable investment in your oral health. In fact, by investing in your smile now, you can save time and money in the future by preventing the need for further surgical intervention later on.

Don't wait and risk further bone loss. Invest in your oral health and find out if All-on-4 dental implants are right for you by requesting a consultation at our office in Joppa, MD. We proudly serve the greater Baltimore area with expert dental care to help patients achieve beautiful, healthy, and functional smiles.

Nervous About Treatment?

We understand that dental phobia and anxiety is a real concern for some patients. We go above and beyond to ensure you are completely comfortable and that your experience at our Baltimore-area office is as positive as possible.

For those who need a little extra help to remain calm and comfortable, we offer oral conscious sedation. This allows patients to remain awake and able to converse with their dental team while being in a deep state of relaxation. Your dentist will prescribe you an anti-anxiety medication to take prior to your appointment. The dose is adjusted to fit your needs. Because it wears off gradually, you will need a responsible adult to take you to and from your appointment.

Frequently Asked Questions About All-on-4 Dental Implants

Is implant placement painful?

No. The treatment site will be thoroughly numbed before your treatment begins. We also offer oral conscious sedation to help you relax and stay completely comfortable during your procedure.

How long do All-on-4 implants last?

Because dental implants are made of durable titanium, they are designed to last a lifetime. However, your denture will wear over time and eventually need to be replaced. With proper care and maintenance, your custom restoration can last for 15 years or more.

How do I care for my new smile?

Caring for your newly restored smile is easy. Because your denture is secured to the implant post, simply brush and floss your denture as you would natural teeth; a floss threader can help you clean between the restoration and your gums. Be sure to maintain your regular dental exams and cleanings to keep your smile healthy for years to come.

I have severe bone loss. Can All-on-4 still help?

All-on-4 dental implants require sufficient bone material to graft to. If you have severe jawbone deterioration, you may still need bone grafting in order to qualify for treatment. We will coordinate care with a trusted oral surgeon for bone grafting. The good news is once your dental implants are placed, they will help keep your jawbone strong and healthy for years to come.
