Invisalign

Patients with misaligned teeth often feel self-conscious about their smile and desire a solution that doesn't involve braces. Drs. Mohamed Saccoh and Kheri-Ann Robinson offer Invisalign® clear aligners, a discreet alternative to traditional orthodontic treatment.  Why choose our Joppa, MD, dental practice for your Invisalign treatment?

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is an orthodontic system consisting of clear removable aligners. Patients receive a series of custom-made aligners that are designed to gently shift the teeth into the proper position. The trays are made from Invisalign's patented SmartTrack® material for comfort and maximum efficiency. They are worn at all times except during meals and when brushing or flossing, which means you can eat what you want and maintain your oral hygiene as easily as ever. Best of all, the aligners are virtually invisible, so you can feel confident about your appearance while undergoing treatment.

It Doesn't Get Any Simpler

Each tray in the series is worn for two weeks, exerting gentle pressure that eventually brings your teeth into alignment and straightens your smile.

Invisalign: Candidacy & Treatment

In this video, Dr. Mohamed Saccoh discusses Invisalign candidacy and the treatment process. You are probably a suitable candidate for Invisalign if your teeth are misaligned. The treatment process involves wearing a series of trays that gradually move the teeth until proper alignment is achieved.

]Every time I come in for my appointment, I am greeted with a smile by the receptionist.  They are so nice and friendly to talk to before going back to the dental hygienist, who also is very nice, and handles your teeth with care. They are never rough during the appointment and the dentist then follows the same great customer service, until the end.

I have a fear of going to the dentist and get bad anxiety and  everyone was very kind, understanding and patient and made me feel so comfortable.

Properly aligned teeth don't just look great - they are easier to clean, helping you prevent cavities, tooth decay, and bacterial infection. Patients with a balanced bite and good occlusion are also less likely to develop conditions such as TMJ.

Treatment Options

Invisalign

Invisalign

The original Invisalign system works great for cases of mild to moderate dental misalignment. The system consists of a series of clear aligners that are worn for about two weeks each. Patients can remove their trays while they eat, smile for pictures, and play sports. Over time, Invisalign can correct the rotation of crooked teeth, close gaps in your smile, and create a more balanced bite.

Invisalign Teen

Invisalign Teen

While Invisalign is much more appealing than braces to the average teenager, many parents have understandable concerns about their child properly wearing their aligners. Invisalign Teen was designed with a monitoring feature to help make sure that younger patients are being consistent in their usage. Each aligner is equipped with a tracker that changes colors to indicate proper wear, so your teen can achieve the right progress and results.

Invisalign Express

Invisalign Express

Invisalign Express is designed to achieve minor adjustments in about six months. So if you have an event such as a wedding on the horizon and you want to correct slight misalignment in your front teeth, this expedited solution may be exactly what you need. Unlike bonding or veneers, this option achieves correction rather than concealment. Dr. Saccoh can help determine if this treatment is right for you.

Your Treatment Timeline

Consultation

During your initial appointment at our Joppa practice, we will examine your teeth and determine which system is best for you. Then we take detailed digital impressions of your teeth with our intraoral camera to create your treatment plan. At this time we will have a better sense of the number of aligners you need and can give you an estimated date of completion.

Aligner Production

The digital impressions are sent to a dental lab for production. Invisalign technicians craft your personalized set of aligners and send them back to you. Once they are delivered, you can begin by wearing the first in the series.

Progression

We will closely monitor your smile as your treatment progresses with the utmost attention to detail. Depending on the movement of your dental arches, we may place small Invisalign attachments which adjust the amount of pressure placed on certain teeth to fine-tune their position.

Results

It is important to wear your clear aligners as directed in order to achieve the best results. Invisalign should be worn almost all the time, with the exception of meals, and while brushing and flossing. With consistent 20-22 hours of daily use, you will begin to see progress quickly. Most patients complete their treatment within 6 to 18 months and maintain their results with a retainer while they sleep.

Check Out The Difference Between Invisalign and Braces

Without the metal brackets and archwires of traditional braces, patients can undergo orthodontic treatment more comfortably and continue to eat all their favorite foods. However, it is important to understand that in some cases, braces may be the better choice. Dr. Saccoh will help determine which option is the best means of straightening your smile.

Tips on Wearing Your Aligners

There are some specific practices that you should adopt when undergoing Invisalign treatment. These useful tips can ensure your treatment goes smoothly and finishes in the estimated time frame:

Consistent Wear

Your aligners should never be left out of your mouth for an extended period of time. Your teeth are constantly moving throughout your treatment, and misuse can reverse your progress.

Handle with Care

Don’t put your aligners in your pocket. This can bend or warp the material and affect their ability to properly and comfortably straighten your teeth. You also should avoid leaving them in the sun or hot environments, as this can cause them to melt or change the shape.

Clean Properly

Do not use mouthwash or toothpaste on your aligners. Invisalign is designed to be as invisible as possible and the use of improper cleaners can cause them to stain or scratch, which makes them more noticeable. Rinse the trays out every night with water and use a soft-bristled brush to remove any food particles or debris.

Attend Check-Ups

You will need to attend periodic follow-up appointments at our Joppa practice so Drs. Saccoh and Robinson can monitor your progress. We can identify any problems if they occur early on, and make any necessary adjustments to achieve the best results.

We Will Recommend the Best Solution for Your Needs

It is important to understand that in some cases, braces may be the better choice. Dr. Saccoh in Joppa will help determine which option is the best means of straightening your smile.
